About Down the Road
Down the Road Butchery is owned and operated by Greg Hangac, a lifelong butcher, and proud member of the Hudson Valley community. Since opening the shop in 2017, Greg has built a reputation for quality craftsmanship, exceptional yields, and treating every customer and every animal with the respect they deserve. Whether he's processing a hunter's deer, harvesting livestock on the farm, or custom cutting locally raised beef and pork, his mission is simple: provide families with clean, high-quality protein from sources they can trust.
Growing up in a hunting family, Greg learned at a young age that filling the freezer wasn't just a tradition, it was an important way his family put food on the table throughout the year. That experience sparked a lifelong passion for butchery and a deep appreciation for knowing exactly where your food comes from. After spending years mastering the trade and learning every aspect of meat processing, he founded Down the Road Butchery with a commitment to humane animal handling, honest work, and treating every customer with the kindness and respect he felt the industry was missing.
Today, Down the Road Butchery proudly serves hunters, hobby farmers, and families across the Hudson Valley through wild game processing, humane on-site slaughter, USDA co-packing, and custom-cut beef and Berkshire pork sourced exclusively from Autumn's Harvest, a regenerative farm in New York's Finger Lakes. Every service shares the same purpose: bridging the gap between the field, local farms, and the family dinner table.
